Here’s a little secret: Curator Violet has only had her ears pierced for a little over a year. A little back story: my mother wouldn’t let me get them pierced until I was 12. (Then she immediately let my 10 year old sister get HERS pierced. Oh, the injustice! It still burns. But I digress.) My pierced ears had a lot of problems and I finally gave up on the whole thing (the hole thing?) and they healed over. When Poppy was born, I vowed to let her get her ears pierced whenever she was ready. So, we got ours pierced together about a year and a half ago.
As an adult with newly pierced ears, I tend to buy earrings in a thoughtful manner. I want each pair to be special and lasting. Poppy has more earrings than she can count, but she’s 9 and her taste changes on a daily hourly basis. Me? I’m a bit choosier. I’d resisted buying any on Etsy until I caught sight of Drop of Sunshine’s Snow Drop Earrings.
I was first taken by the contrast between the rounded beads and the right angle of the silver wire. So simple and yet so modern. The teardrop crystals are like little, perfect beaded rain drops. They are free to twirl on the posts so they can easily catch the light. And as they’re clear, the go with absolutely everything.
The artist, Maria, was a dream to work with and she even included a bonus pair of earrings with my purchase.
(And you should see what she can do with color! Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve got my eye on these Jolly Rancher ones as well.)
Remind me to tell you about the time my mother wouldn’t let me buy go-go boots when I was 5.
Happy Stalking!

Those are amazing! I love the name “Jolly Rancher” earrings.
So true, the older sibling always gets the shaft in those situations. We have to do all the breaking in!
I love how simple and kind of space age these look. Ahhh go-go boots.
Thankfully, my mom was very sweet when it came to letting all of my sisters and I do it as soon as we wanted… but those earrings are cute! I would happily consider making you and your daughter something sometime ;D
I still don’t have my ears pierced.
Luckily she has a bracelet and necklace in her shop.
