When online stalking is a good thing!

Follow Friday: Etsy Stalker Style

by Violet on January 7, 2010

(Curator’s Note: Follow Friday is a Twitter phenomenon that occurs each Friday in which people recommend those tweeters they think you would enjoy following.)

Like being dropped off on the edge of an eight lane highway and told to cross on foot, Twitter can seem overwhelming and disorienting. Once you get the hang of it, though, Twitter is one of the most rewarding, gratifying and downright fun things on the internet. The more time you spend on Twitter (and Violet should know!) the more obvious it becomes that tweeting takes an actual skill. Here, in what can best be described as an expanded Follow Friday, is a listing of some the people who make Twitter fun and interesting for me day after day.

Follow Friday: Etsy Stalker Style

Even though Kaboogie once tattled on me TO HER MOM on twitter, I’m including her here. Her shop features all sorts of repurposed leather goods like these plum suede baby boots that are almost enough to make me want another baby. (Etsy Shop: Kaboogie)

Heartsabustin2 is always ready with a supportive word when you need it. Her jewelry makies use of a wide variety of materials and often includes vintage touches. I’m fond of her polymer clay work like this gorgeous Samurai’s Heart necklace. (Etsy Shop: Heartsabustin)

You’ll find these next two tweeting together on a regular basis. They don’t shy away from difficult topics and are smart and interesting!

Crookedstamper has a great supply of fun, colorful greeting cards. She’s especially fond of a bad pun which makes her near and dear to my heart! (Etsy Shop, Crooked Stamper)

Understandblue is a graphic designer who puts her talents to use creating cards like this one that boils down the essence of friendship into two simple words: (Etsy Shop: Understand Blue)

Overlooking the fact that Whimsybeading once stole a wee ninja practically out of my Etsy cart I will graciously introduce you to this husband and wife team who makes fabulous plus sized beaded jewelry. This bracelet is called Golden Petals and features a vintage button accent. (Etsy Shop: Whimsy Beading)

Machomachismo is a calm, steadying presence. But don’t let that gentlemanly exterior fool you! Just look at his description of this vintage bottle of military latrine disinfectant: “Whats more masculine than military strength poo bucket cleaner? Or being on the front lines of outdoor “bathroom” usage?”(Etsy Shop: Macho Machismo Vintage)

2Kutekreations can always find the positive in any situation. It’s no surprise that her work, like these sweet crocheted baby washcloths, reflect her sunny personality. (Etsy Shop: 2KuteKreations)

ClaudineMJ is as quick and funny as they come. She’s a writer and a beadweaver and the two come together in the great tutorials she posts on her blog. (Etsy Shop: Belle Designs)

Finally, besides being endlessly entertaining, WSCreations once saved me from having to bake for 14 of my husbands co-workers. I am forever in her debt! Speaking of debt, I could find lots of ways to spend my money in her shop of wire-wrapped jewelry. (Etsy shop: Wellspring Creations)

The trick to Twitter is to jump right in. You’ll never be “caught up” so don’t even try. Pop in and out, comment on what you read, follow interesting links, and most of all have fun!

Happy Stalking…and Tweeting!

I can’t thank you enough for including us in this gathering of folks, and I can assure you that Harold the Orange Ninja is very happy with Maurice the Flower Ninja.

Thank you too, for introducing more wonderful people to admire and follow on Twitter and Etsy!

What a honor to be included amongst these great shops. Thanks so much. :)

Its great to see 2Kute in this list. Her work is great and I’ve “met” her in the chat rooms. She’s a wonderful seller and a really easy to get along with online artisan. Her new IPod cosy is a great looking item – and the apple button is really sweet.

I like the last photo you included from Wellspring! Nice photo… make me go check out her shop.

Thank you so very much for featuring us on your wonderful blog. We are just thrilled and will proudly tell everyone we know about it!

^_^ There’s a new polymer clay princess coming out soon! Keep an eye out for her!

What a great idea, I love it when others on twitter say why twitterers should be followed, it means you know you’re going to meet nice people.
Thanx
