I love free food, people who admit they are wrong, a good argument, NPR, cheap champagne, afternoon movies and clear, cold days. –Rachel, from Heart of Light

Sometimes I come across something in my Stalking that stops me in my tracks. You know what I’m talking about: you click on a listing and there it is–waiting patiently like an old friend, ready to fill a hole in your life that you didn’t even know existed. For me, it was this corsage pin from Heart of Light, discovered browsing through treasuries:
I know, right? And good luck deciding on a color, because trust me: you need all of them.
I love my corsage pin so much that the next item on my list will be one of her rosebud belts. Talk about a show stopper. Add one of these babies to any everyday outfit and you’ve taken things to a whole new level.
Just take a good deep breath before heading over to purchase one of these waist-cinchers, because you are about the be faced with a decision that could cause some anxiety. Which color? I mean, truly: the only answer might be to buy two.
Looking to take it up another notch? Not to worry; Heart of Light has got you covered. Go with the Ruffles Belt for a bit more drama. These are made to order in (you guessed it!) a plethora of fabulous colors.
Many of this shop’s signature items are hair accessories, from headbands . . .
. . . to hairpins:
In her own words:
Curator B: How long have you been on Etsy? What made you decide to set up shop there?
I’ve been shopping on Etsy for over a year, but I just started selling at the end of August. I love the freedom that Etsy offers, and it’s a really low risk way to try out a new venture.
Curator B: You walk that perfect line of making pieces that are flirty without being juvenile. How has your aesthetic evolved over time?
Thank you! I’ve been making hair pieces for over 10 years now, and those initial ones were definitely a bit over the top in a not so great way (think feathers and lots of glitter). Over time, I’ve become more interested in fabric, texture and color and I try to keep my pieces balanced by not going overboard with any one of those elements. I like my accessories to be sweet without being saccharine.
Curator B: You seem to have an unending supply of talent! Cooking, sewing, do it yourself projects…do you find that your interests tend to overlap and impact each other?
My interests definitely complement each other, although they usually don’t overlap much. I love working with my hands and I tend to jump from project to project. I’m always eager to learn new techniques, both in the kitchen and in my craft, and it helps keep me from getting burned out.
Curator B: What are your favorite fabrics and materials to use? Why?
I absolutely love china silk, because the texture is amazing and silk soaks up dye like no other fabric – you get beautifully saturated colors and the feel is luxurious. On the other end of the spectrum, I do a lot of work with 100% cotton vintage sheets that I hunt down at thrift stores. You can find fun patterns and it’s a really economical way of getting large pieces of fabric for projects around the house.
Curator B: You are the author of a very popular blog. How do your blogging and your Etsy Shop intersect? Do you see them as connected?
The shop grew from the blog. I would never have dreamed of opening up my Etsy shop without all the support of my readers. I knew I loved to make things, and the blog is my outlet for all those projects I had banging around in my head. As the blog grew (slowly) I began to realize that I could open a little shop and I decided to try it, even though I was terrified at first.
Curator B: If an evil gnome told you that you could only make one item for the rest of your life, what would you choose? Why?
I’m laughing picturing an evil gnome! I would actually chose to keep making crocheted afghans. I don’t sell them in the shop because they are simply too time intensive, but they are one of my favorite things to make. Crocheting is such a relaxing process, and I’m always cold, so the blankets come in handy. Although I think everyone I know already has been gifted with a blanket or two, so I might have trouble finding homes for them.
Curator B: (Um, remind me to send you my address for the next time you have trouble finding a home for an afghan, okay? Just sayin’.)
With a name like Heart of Light, how could generosity not be a hallmark of this shop? She has offered to give one of our lucky readers an assortment of hair pins from her shop. To enter, click yourself over to Heart of Light and try not to go too crazy. Then find your way back here and leave us a comment indicating which of her items you can no longer live without. One lucky Stalker will be chosen at random next Sunday, November 29th. Good luck!

It’s hard to believe I am one of the first to comment – these are stunning pieces! If I could choose just one, I would pick the corsage in forest green.
So, I have this royal blue silk shirt dress that is screaming for Rosebud belt, in chocolate. Literally, I can hear it two rooms away.
I love the hair pins! An assortment of those would be just the thing. And the Rosebud pin in green is awesome. Beautiful stuff! I am so glad that there is Etsy Stalker to help me find such cool things!
Enjoy the day!
Erin
I love the lilypad headband in sage, the ruffles headband in champagne, and most importantly, that rosebud belt in chocolate!
I must have the rosebud pin corsage in cobalt blue. Seriously. Unbelievably. Gorgeous. I mean, all of the products are beautiful, but that one I can see on all of my jacket lapels. Beautiful!
Thankyou so much for introducing us to yet another gorgeous store! I love the ruffle headband in poppy and the rosebud headband in turquoise.
I love the rosebud hair pins! I could see myself wearing those all the time! I love the lilac and forest green!
I fell in love with her work the moment my eyes saw her shop a couple months ago. Beautiful! I think my favorite item is the rosebud belt…after my baby is born and I have a flat tummy again I’m treating myself to one!!!
Love love this shop! Thank you for introducing me to Heart of Light.
Oh my goodness it was too hard to choose just one favorite so I picked two: the ruffled hair pins (in any color) ’cause my hair is always up in a bun and I need a cute way to help my bangs grow out, and the rosebud corsage pin in the cobalt blue. Its such a fun and vibrant color and my mom got me hooked on brooches years ago. They have a way of making any run of the mill cardigan or blazer look unique and fresh
I LOVE “Rosebud belt, in turquoise”…it’s perfect for me!!!!

Yup. Certainly can’t live without the Rosebud Headband, in mint or the Rosebud Belt, in chocolate. Beautiful!!!
First, this is such a timely post because I was just browsing Etsy for cute hair accessories before I meandered over here.
Second, all I can say is WOW. Can I choose to not live without the entire shop? Because I want one of EVERYthing. If an evil gnome made me choose only one item, though, I think the ruffled headband in lettuce would be the item of choice.
Thanks for hosting another fabulous giveaway!
what exquisite handcrafted pieces.
i think i need a lilypad headband though the colours are all so stunning, choosing it too difficult, just as you warned…
thank you both!!!
what a great interview! I adore Rachel’s shop and everything in it, but I am really loving those corsages and belts. they are just stunning and really would take any outfit up a notch!
The navy rosebud belt has been on my Christmas wish list since Raachel opened her shop. I’m crossing my fingers that a very nice person will gift it to me, so I can make any outfit feel extra special.

oooh, her rosebud pin corsage in coral red is fabulous! thanks for the opportunity!
I rarely wear these kinds of accessories right now because I have a one year old who likes to tug, but I am in love with the turquoise belt.
i love every single item that rachel makes…but oooo, if i had to chose only one thing- the corsage or rosebud headband -okay, i narrowed it to two things
LOVE the rosebud belt in marigold… have been eyeing it for quite some time now!
Oh, how I love gray and yellow!!! I love the rosebud pin corsages, especially in marigold yellow.
