Curator Buys: Masks from Shannon Young

by Violet on November 23, 2009

With the holidays just on the horizon, this seemed like the perfect time to share one of my latest purchases with you!

I needed a birthday present for my 6 year old nephew who is an absolute pirate fanatic. He and his buddies love to play pirates, but let’s face it, oftentimes little boys get the short end of the dress up stick. But then I discovered Shannon Young and her embroidered masks! Say goodbye to plastic eye patches.

With just felt and embroidery, Shannon puts a clever spin on traditional masks. Look at the fun she has with this bat that’s a little bit scary but a whole lot cute.

It’s so nice to see dress up accessories for kids that are well made and will stand the test of time. And I can vouch for the fact that Shannon was great to work with and her shipping is lightning fast.

If dressing up as mythical creatures isn’t on your to-do list, check Shannon’s shop for all sort of other embroidered goodies: aprons, bags, checkbook covers, and burp cloths!

Happy Stalking!

I love your pirate mask. Where in the world did you find this. I have two grandsons and it is hard to find some boy patterns.
