When online stalking is a good thing!

A Dollop and a Spoonful (Exhibit 28)

by Violet on February 24, 2009

One needn’t be a coffee or tea drinker to appreciate the following exhibit.  There is something so inherently pleasing about a cream pitcher  and sugar bowl.  There they sit together, complementing each other, like a tiny art installation.  Violet has a weakness for cream and sugar sets and owns a half dozen.  After Stalking Etsy, she may need to update that count.

A Dollop and a Spoonful

David of  Mossyrock Pottery makes this set in a glaze he calls Stonewashed Blue.  I love the delicate detailing and the color would brighten up any kitchen.

Here’s a sweet little set hand thrown by Heathers Clayworks.  The pedestal can be turned over and used as a bowl.

Lizarena made this set from thrown and altered porcelain.  In her words, “I imagine that  the creamer is the female and the sugar jar her male counterpart.”  Look closely at the little legs and you’ll see just what she means.

If , like Violet does, you like to take your beverage outside and listen to the morning birdsong,  here are some fitting choices for you.

This House Sparrow set is perfect right down to the rustic Ponderosa Pine handles that come  from Justmare’s front yard.

Georgie’s Mom molded and painted this Bluebird of Happiness set.  The organic shapes of the creamer and sugar bowl flow naturally with the  garden theme.

Spring is on the horizon, but  this little pumpkin set made by Bauman Stoneware has me dreaming of fall.

There’s even a matching teapot!

Violet is swooning over the retro lines and colors of this little stunner.  Whitney Smith definitely knows how to combine form with function.

Just look at the handle on the top of the sugar bowl!

Creative With Clay was inspired by the fabrics and embroideries of Bollywood costumes.  I love the way he’s translated that into his designs.

No skimping on art here…the back of each piece has a different design!

If Violet owned this next pair, she’d be looking for any and every excuse to use them.  Amy Halko Ceramics has lots of ideas for her set.  “Cream and sugar, sake and wasabi peas, nuts and salad dressing…the possibilities are endless!”

Lastly, I offer this simple but poignant set.  The drifting dandelion seeds speak of another day gone by.  Love the way Soule has contrasted the bold graphics with the white pottery.

Now, for another cup of coffee and more stalking!
