When online stalking is a good thing!

Etsy does “Mad Men”

by Curator Beatrice on September 9, 2009

I have something I feel I need to tell you, Stalkers, and it’s for Violet’s own good. It’ll be hard, but as her stalking partner and close friend, I feel a sense of duty towards her. Are you all sitting down? Good. Here it is:

Violet does not watch “Mad Men.”

Now that the screaming from across the internets has subsided, I think we should form an intervention. To that end, I have put together an exhibit of Etsy finds that reflects the fun and aesthetic of “Mad Men.”

Etsy Does “Mad Men”

Can’t you just see Betty Draper in this dress, a nice feminine cocktail in one hand and a cigarette in the other? My life would be so different if I could jet about town in this. By Audrey and Grace:

Mum is the Word has listed a 1965 guide for interior decorating published by Double Day. Now you look at the page below and tell me if Mr. Sterling and Mr. Cooper aren’t about to arrive with their wives for a dinner party? That’s what I thought.

Thinking of throwing a dinner or cocktail party yourself? Ruff House Art has got you covered with these “Mad Men” themed party invites.

Bring a piece of Betty’s kitchen into your own with these limited edition prints of retro kitchen appliances by CB78. Wouldn’t these look fabulous hung as a set?

Ah, but it’s the office where it all comes together, isn’t it? Robot Candy captures the images perfectly in this set of vintage magnets. Can’t you see one of Don’s transient secretaries sitting at this typewriter and coyly answering the telephone?

And speaking of that Madison Avenue office, am I the only one who is absolutely in love with Joan Holloway? As the show progresses, I can’t decide if I love her or Peggy more. Plus: that girl knows how to dress. I love the way Voodooville captures the essence of Joan in this original acrylic painting on canvas:

It took me awhile to figure out what the pointed gold thing is that Joan always sports around her neck. Now that I know, I want one. Like yesterday. It’s a pencil necklace, Stalkers! And Owliday Inn just happens to carry a vintage one that still actually has lead in it. Get me a tight red dress and a fabulous plastic surgeon, and you won’t be able to tell the real Joan from me. Curator Joan. Nice ring to it!

Have I convinced you, Violet? Get yourself Season One and get crackin’, girl. Our friendship might depend on it.

Stalkingly yours,

Curator Beatrice

Awesome items! I have a confession: I don’t watch Mad Men, either. Love the aesthetic, though.

I think I’m in love…that green polka dot dress is absolutely amazing. I’m a recent “Mad Men” convert…can’t believe I didn’t start watching it sooner!

Love the pencil necklace and it just so happens I bought a tight red dress c. 1960′s last week! Hmmmm…. I know it would get snatched up in sec if I put it in the shop… but it is sooooo…. MadMen I can’t bear to part with it! And it fits me. Sigh.
