When online stalking is a good thing!

Stick Around

by Violet on July 27, 2009

Every now and then, something comes along that is so life-changing,  I can’t  believe I ever lived without it. Like, say, Caller I.D. or Tivo or the wonderful, glorious Internet.  Today’s feature could very well compete on the same level: vinyl wall decals! Imagine the ability to transform any room of the house with such ease, such affordability, such chic style! My nine year old Poppy has many fantastic ideas for her room: green walls with purple polka dots, murals with birds and woodland creatures or fairies….I hate to disappoint my daughter, but my abilities do not even include drawing a straight line with a ruler. I was thinking a nice coat of paint was all I could offer, but now? The possibilities are endless! Stick around for this exhibit.

Stick Around

There are decals out there for every room of the house. I first saw them in real life when I noticed this flock of birds flying in Beatrice’s living room. For this exhibit, I am limiting myself (with great difficulty) to those geared towards children’s rooms. Let’s start with Graphic Spaces who rightfully asserts that her designs bring a “Jubilee of Cuteness” wherever they go.  Like this Spacegirl who comes with a personalized Space Capsule!

Or her Peaceful Martian UFO accompanied by  stars and a planet.

Next stop: Define Your Space Vinyl and this friendly hippo with two little birds perched on its back.

This is a great accent for any child’s room–especially if he or she has an uncommon name.   Brook Street can make it for you in this simple, but bold font.  As with most vinyl decals, these can be made in your choice of color.

Dabble Down’s designs are an absolute delight.  Look at these parachuting sheep bringing sleepy time to your little ones!

For Poppy, I’m thinking about something that can be scattered all around her room.  Like Michelle Christina’s confetti polka dots which come in a set of 84 circles of various sizes and your choice of up to six colors…

Or these charming, delicate butterflies from Vinyl Design and Decor.

Monkey Threads makes this wee mouse and mouse hole combo which would be adorable along a baseboard.  (I asked her if she could make a guinea pig and she said yes!)

Vinyl decals can be easily applied and removed, but once in place, you don’t want to rearrange them.  For that, you need to work with fabric decals which can be moved around again and again.  Sticky Tiki makes this Dear Deer tree with  reusable fabric wall stickers which means the branches, leaves and other adornments can be re-designed to your heart’s content.

See this young lady next to the clothes line?  All those items can be taken off and used to dress her up!  Mae makes clothing for every season so you can change her look to fit the time of year.

Happy Sticking Stalking!

I agree! I love the new vinyl decals!! Just since last summer I have seen an explosion of them everywhere…the best of which are on Etsy, of course!!

My current fav is one of a wiener dog being carried away by ballons! (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27129407)

I love the vinyl decals! The designs have gotten creative and unique. I think someone on my Christmas list should get one. Maybe me.

Maybe I’d actually like doing laundry if my utility room was decorated with the lady and the clothesline.
