Product Review: Yapp’s Cottage Decor (With Giveaway!)

by Violet on May 20, 2009

I Stalked Lora of Yapp’s Cottage Decor for our wisteria exhibit and was thrilled when she contacted me and offered to do a product review and giveaway!  She kindly sent me the wisteria travel soap that I’d admired.

Her travel packs are such a clever idea; you get 4 one ounce bars of soap, each individually wrapped in plastic and with it’s own printed label.   That way you could give them away as a set of four or, more likely, keep one or two for yourself and still have a lovely gift!

(I find soap to be the ultimate teacher gift: it’s not fattening, won’t clutter up the house, and it’s so fun to choose a scent to fit a personality.)

If you get overwhelmed by scents, know that Lora’s packaging is a dream come true.  It keeps everything fresh and contained.  Once the plastic was opened, the true wisteria scent came through.  The fragrance is definitely rich and floral, but without being girly.

At Yapp’s Cottage Decor,  Lora starts with a glycerin base then adds all sort of good things like goat’s milk, Vitamin E, and oatmeal.  After using it, my skin felt nice and soft and the scent lingered in a subtle way.  (Just thought of another idea:  the one ounce size is great for putting in a guest bathroom and the set would make a perfect hostess gift.)

I put the bar in the downstairs powder room and quickly got this review from my 9 year old daughter:  “I like it and not just because it’s purple!  It’s pretty and it’s smooth and it smells good!”

Lora’s labels are awash (pun fully intended!) with her cottage sensibilities.  The packaging, like the soap, is sweet and gentle.   These are not the kinds of soaps you toss in a drawer until you need them; you’ll want to set them out for everyone to see!  These little bars are popular as  party favors and Lora has a terrific selection of wedding and baby shower labels to pick from.  Choose your scent, choose your label, choose your text and she’ll do the rest.

Lora was kind enough to send me two more four packs for two lucky Etsy Stalker winners!  One is white tea and ginger:

and the other is Creamy Lemongrass.  Doncha just love the ribbon detail on the packaging?

To enter, browse Yapp’s Cottage Decor and come back here with your favorite item.  Make sure you check out her whipped soap and gift box sets!  TWO lucky winners to be announced next Wednesday, May 27th at 5 pm PST.

Remember, cleanliness is next to Stalking(ness)!

Other than the Wisteria Soap, I love the Strawberry Rose and Vanilla Soap! —- I would love to win the wisteria soap because i would like to give some to my director and costume lady for a gift. We did this play called Enchanted April this year for drama club and the line most repeated in the play was “To those who appreciate wisteria and sunshine…” Also, the stage was covered in it :D

For me, it’s the lilac soap. In the back of my yard are several very tall lilac trees. Each Spring they bloom and when I pull in my driveway I can smell them as I get out of the car. The smell is so amazing that I’m disappointed it only lasts a short while. When I was younger we had a home that had many lilacs. I loved the smell then too but my Mother was allergic and my stepfather cut them all down. It was devastating to me. I thought she should just suck it up for a few weeks. ;) (Teenagers.. it’s all about them). So, imagine how happy I was the first Spring in our new home to find that the trees lining the back of the yard were lilacs. ;)

She does a lovely job of packaging too. Really beautiful. I will definitely be buying (but hope to win!)
