When online stalking is a good thing!

On A Scale Of One To Twelve

by Violet on May 18, 2009

This exhibit represents  my favorite kind of Stalking: the kind when I learn something new. Well, two things, actually. No, wait, three. First I learned about 1:12 scale (also called one inch scale). This is the most common scale used in traditional doll house furnishings and it means that one inch equals one foot. In other words, an item, say a table, that is 6 feet long in real life, would be 6 inches long as a dollhouse miniature. The second thing I learned is that people are passionate about their dollhouses. And thirdly, I learned that there are some extraordinarily talented Etsy artists with amazingly steady hands.

Do you have your glasses? You’re going to need them so you don’t miss a single detail in this exhibit of miniatures.

On A Scale Of One To Twelve

A popular way to change up your dollhouse is to set it for various meals or celebrations. For example, maybe it’s Cinco De Mayo and you want to add Mexican food to your dollhouse table. Everyday Gourmet has just what you need.

It’s got everything:  chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese….even a dollop of sour cream and a lime garnish.

Now, try to wrap your brain around the fact that the platter measures just under two inches long.

Many sellers use coin to help you understand the scale.  Here’s She Counts Crows mouth-watering cheese and fruit plate.

(Don’t ask me how they do it!  I don’t know!  I think it must be part magic.)

Maybe your dollhouse has a lush, organic vegetable garden.  You’ll need to show off the harvest and 64nt has the perfect way.

Your dolls might get lonely while you’re at work.  Clearly, they’ll be needing a pet.  Polkadot Toadstool has a wee kitty just waiting for a good home.

You don’t want that kitty scratching up your good furniture.  CW Poppets to the rescue!

“The children!”, I hear you say, “What about the children?”  How about a pull toy from Wonderworks?

You know what children (and Curator Violet) love? Dessert!  Just look what Petit Plat has rustled up.

Just when Violet found herself getting used to this scale, Gods Flying Flowers knocked me off my (not even close to miniature) feet with her red spotted purple butterfly.

Remember, Stalkers, bigger is not always better.

OMG – I can’t believe the butterfly! But I totally love the duckie. And the tart just made me hungry…..I think I have some cupcakes left from the party……
