Give Gingham Another Look

by Violet on May 23, 2012

Back in 2000 when Poppy was a newborn, I envisioned a nursery in lilac gingham. Sweet and old-fashioned, I thought it would be perfect for a little girl. I scoured sample books at the local children’s decor shop to no avail. The woman there told me (and not so nicely, I might add), “We don’t have anything like that.” Turns out I was just ahead of my time. Gingham has made a huge resurgence and not just for little girls. It’s a delicate balance: too much and you look like Laura Ingalls or Daisy Duke, but the right touch looks fresh and feminine.

Give Gingham Another Look

Zero Bags has a lovely selection of handmade fabric bags like this apple green messenger bag accented with a black and white gingham bow. She has variety of color combinations available and is happy to create one just for you.

Perfect for picnics, birthday celebrations, or baby showers, these mini pinwheels are great party decor. Paper Polaroid listed these as a set of seven, so you can group them in a vase or scatter them around your special event.

Red and white gingham fabric is nestled in a brass filigree setting then accented with black faceted glass beads. The result is a striking, summery necklace with a definite edge. It’s available from Vadjutka.

Colorful buttons in gingham, polka dots, and stripes make for vibrant digital clip art. Digitalfield offers them as 30 printable digital elements all on a transparent background for use on invitations, scrapbooks, and much more.

Freckles and Frizz makes “Happy stuff for happy kids and happy houses”. This embroidery hoop certainly makes me happy! The yo yo flowers have been made from vintage fabric, placed on a cheery yellow background and accented with green embroidered stems.

Gingham and shabby chic are a perfect match as seen in this soft and sweet fabric necklace from Madi’s Treasures. A satin ribbon secures it at any length you’d like.

I can’t help it…gingham on babies is simply irresistible. A sleeveless baby dress and matching bloomers is pretty as can be in soft pink gingham and eyelet lace. Scoop it up at Just for Baby on Etsy.

Happy Stalking!

Oh, I love Gingham. Why another chance! Huh? Is it getting a bad rap or something? I love the gingham bows. So sweet. The pinwheels are perfect. The buttons are great too. Thanks.
