Road Trip!

by Violet on February 22, 2012

Over the long holiday weekend, my family and I took a road trip to Southern Oregon. The more I travel by plane, the more I appreciate the simple pleasures of a road trip. Especially one through the nearly unparalleled natural beauty of Oregon! Today’s exhibit is inspired by the timeless and never-ending romance of the road.

Road Trip!

Retro Roadside Photographs is your place for fine art prints of Route 66 landmarks, vintage signs, old neon, and classic hot rods. As Ashland, Oregon was our destination, I couldn’t resist this charming photo.

A great thing about traveling by car? Not worrying about how many bags you’re taking or how much they weigh. Another Jamie Davis updated a vintage round suitcase and with green wood grain embroidery creating the perfect piece for you to grab for your trip.

Starting with prints of his Volkswagon road trip paintings, Kilkenny Cat Art laminated them, added a silver eyelet and a polka dot ribbon to make these super fun bookmarks.

Crafty Lori Jean calls this bouquet of “For the Love of the Road”. Handmade from maps, the rosettes come with a white vase that has an antiqued finish.

Using a wax cast method, Plum and Posey’s fine silver compass rose necklace is meant for one with a wandering soul. (Do you think some day people will make GPS necklaces?)

Keeping children occupied on a road trip can be a challenge, but Urban Homesteaders has a fun idea: A Pocket Gnome! Each pocket gnome has been finished with a coat of homemade beeswax and olive oil polish and comes with its own pouch made from soft recycled eco-felt. A hand-crocheted flower and organza carrying strap make sweet finishing touches.

Simple and striking, Metal Envy’s double banded Road Trip ring is handcrafted from sterling silver and accented with brass road lines. What a wonderful way to commemorate a special journey!

Happy Stalking!
