Here’s the thing: If the team I love is in the Super Bowl, it is the most important event in the month for me. If (like this year) my team is not in the Super Bowl, I could not care less. I decided to dry my tears and find beautifully done bowls to share with you. I present my second annual SUPER BOWLS exhibit!!
Super Bowls (Vol. 2)
Check out this facepot! It was hand thrown and then sculpted to make this face. On the back, there is a perfect impression of a maple leaf that the potter found nearby and included. Earthface Pottery glazed it with food safe glaze and used tenmoku stain to enhance the features.

This cheerful wheel thrown pottery bowl can be used every day for pasta, salad or just for the beauty of its remarkable colors and design. Painterly Pots made it dishwasher and microwave safe for your convenience.

Using more subtle color and glaze, Jon Whitney’s bowl has a deep, more reserved character. The bowl has drainage holes in the bottom and a saucer to catch drips. Wouldn’t it be lovely filled with bright strawberries or cherries?

Even though the shop that sells this is called Ellen’s Clay Creations, this is a wooden bowl, painted with a charming folk art design. I see houses, a church, sheep in wonderful subtle tones. It would make a great decorative piece.

From folk art to free form! Look what Marti’s Art has for you. It’s a bowl made with hand rolled stoneware coils intertwined to make the shape that you see. Various coils are glazed in different earthy colors. I keep picturing some lemons in this bowl as an outstanding centerpiece.

This bowl is designed as a ceramic planter and has a textured band made by embossing an old sweater cuff into the clay! It’s glazed inside and left partially unglazed outside. Marci G recommends it as a succulent planter which would enhance the marvelous textures even more.

We’ll end up with an amazing bit of whimsy! Little Pig Pottery has made a sculpture that is also a bowl. Now who wouldn’t want to serve snacks out of an armadillo? It’s made of stoneware, and if you turn him over, you get the full armadillo effect!

See you soon!
