Storm Watching

by Violet on January 25, 2012

Here at the cottage, we have endured storm after storm this winter. It’s been cold, wet, and wild. Well, you know what they say: When life gives you storms, make storm-ade. Or something like that. Inside, where it’s warm and dry, I Stalked storms, and look what I found!

Storm Watching

The title of this print is “Oregon Weather is not for Sissies” and the artist really knows what she’s talking about. The colors are not your typical storm colors, but I think that makes this piece by Lucia Johnson more engaging.

The necklace below would make anyone feel better about the weather. It’s called “Chance of Showers Cloud in the Wind”. It’s hand made of sterling silver and has blue topaz raindrops. Gemoriah made this beauty.

From delicate to substantial, we have Silverp’s Storm Cloud Neckpiece. The square crazy lace agate contains all the colors of a stormy sky while a carved bone face is warding off the onslaught by blowing the clouds away.

Art by Crixie has caught the storm as the clouds are gathering and the threat is imminent. I can almost feel the wind blowing away the heat of a summer’s day. This is a print of an original pen and watercolor ACEO and it’s signed and dated on the back.

What a contrast now. This is a two piece abstract acrylic with metallics all through. Entitled “Wind and Sun Storm”, Ambient Atelier has captured the colors and motion perfectly.

Sometimes you just need to give in and munch the storms away! Jamie Shelman’s limited edition print has the cat well prepared with oreos and lots of other good junk food to get through the day.

It seems fitting to end with these lovely “After the Storm” earrings from Beth’s Hidden Gems The periwinkle blue bead paired with antique brass brings the promise of peaceful days to come.

See you soon!
