Smoke

by Violet on August 11, 2010

Curator Ivy looked at an old movie and saw people smoking. Now, Ivy is appalled by smoking and thinks that nobody should smoke. But the idea of smoke in a positive, non health-threatening way got stuck in Ivy’s head and it was necessary to Stalk good kinds of smoke!

Smoke

Part of HR Photo and Design’s smoke series, this electric blue photograph captures the grace and mystery of swirling smoke.

This figure just tickled Ivy. (Not to be confused with tickling ivories….bit I digress.) I found this fabulous little Japanese porcelain pin-up ashtray in The Spectrum’s shop. It’s fun, colorful, and totally silly.

Created as an advertisement for a brand of cigarettes, this vintage art-nouveau poster is beautiful. The elegant lines and muted colors, along with the woman’s attitude as evidenced in her expression make this offering by Curious Prints so appealing.

How about a smokey eye? Pink Quartz Minerals is here to show you that a smokey eye doesn’t have to be brown or black. Check out her new smokey blue eye shadow kit.

LuraJewelry captures the essence of a cicada in this fabulous sterling silver ring called a Smoke Wing cicada. This is unique and Ivy wants it!

Moving back to the silly arena, Ivy found this magnet and it made her smile. We’ve eaten smoked fish but this may be the first time we have seen a smoking fish. Tinker Tiles has the right idea!!

TwystedCreations has a different take on smoke. She has made a graceful and dramatic Gathered Leaves pendant using smoky topaz and crystals.

We will end with a vibrant, exciting acrylic painting by AunJuli that makes a hugely dramatic statement. The thick canvas is painted on all 4 edges so it can be hung without framing.

See you soon!

There are so many ways smoke can be interpreted and I enjoyed looking through your choices. Thank you for making my photograph a part of this brilliant and most colorful exhibit!
